📰 Nota announces a new grant program to make assistive AI accessible to local newsrooms.

AI technology company Nota announced plans to offer its state of the art tools available at an 80% discount to newsrooms with gross annual revenues under $250,000.

The program is a partnership with The Institute for Nonprofit News and Microsoft’s Democracy Forward Initiative, and comes just in time for this year’s election cycle.

📰 “Pink Slime” journalism is accelerating leading up to this election season

The disturbing trend of low quality news sites known as “pink-slime” journalism hasn’t slowed, and appears to be gaining momentum heading into the 2024 election cycle.

📰 Award to be given for best fact checking organization

The International Fact-Checking Network will award one organization with the best research award June 28 at the 11th annual GlobalFact conference in Sarajevo.

Six organizations have been named as finalists for the award, each of which must “have conducted vigorous research that significantly advanced the understanding of misinformation and its effects”.

📰 AP launches nonprofit to raise $100M for local news

The Associated Press has announced plans to launch a sister organization which will raise at least $100 million to expand local and state coverage.

The AP Fund for Journalism will be designated as a 501(c)3 charitable organization which can raise philanthropic funds, something that the AP can’t currently do as a not-for-profit organization.
